July 4, 2011; Shall We Allow Hope to Be Lost And The Dream To Be Eclipsed?

July 4, 2011; Shall We Allow Hope to Be Lost And The Dream To Be Eclipsed?

If tonight you concluded your Fourth Of July Observance, as so many did, on The National Mall In Washington DC, or watching that observance on TV you were exposed/treated to a rare performance of the coral accompanying version of the abbreviated Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture a full version and those lyrics accompany this post. Let us not forget the real meaning of this day, the men and women, the document that gave birth to this nation; none naive enough to believe that the hope, the dreams that they had for nation would be easily realized. They understood the nature of our species and many generations have sacrificed mightily to keep that hope alive, to keep the dream in reach. I fear we are falling behind in our duty to act as so many before have.

Mighty Lord,
Preserve us from jeopardy.
Take thee now our fate
and glow bright in penitence
and be-e with me
O'er trecherous and cruel and grand unease and to our land bring peace.
O mighty Lord hear our lowly prayer,
and by light, shinning holy light, grant us oh Lord Peace again.

O mighty Lord hear our prayer.
